Wales: Call for more help for older male domestic abuse victims

Our thanks to Nigel for this. He writes:

Of course I doubt there will be much done, as anything that breaks the narrative that men are always abusers and never abused gets sidelined. However it is good to see the commissioner in Wales trying to address this. In fact in the care business this is not surprising. A common situation is that this form of abuse has its roots in retirement, illness or disability. In effect when the husband cannot fulfil the expected role of carer for the wife/partner their need for help themselves engenders the same negative response we see generally in society. The most high profile cases being the abuse suffered by Prof Stephen Hawking and Eddie Kidd from their wives.
