Quite apart from the direct discrimination of blocking offers to candidates who have successfully passed recruitment, just because of their sex and skin colour, there’s the little matter of our national security. The debacle in Afghanistan, outbreak of full-scale war in eastern Europe, military and naval operations around Taiwan and across the China sea and resumption of wayward missile launches from N Korea and continued fragility of governance across northern Africa and the middle east.

You’d think the heads of the armed forces would be doing their level best to fill all their vacancies. Constantly there are articles about how “under strength” our various armed forces are, yet we’ll turn down suitable recruits simply because of their skin colour and genitalia. Not only immoral, but pretty stupid.

One has to concerned if our national security has been forfeited at a crucial time when services are short of personnel because they refused successful candidates. Good on the women head of recruitment who resigned to blow the whistle, precisely because the priority should be the security of us all, not PC posturing.
