A piece from the BBC which of course doesn’t contain so much as one sentence on the gender balance among GPs. In the 1970s Dr Vernon Coleman, the first “TV doctor” in the UK, was warning of the inevitable and predictable adverse consequences of medical schools preferencing women over men for places. Over 70% of those places go to women, more than 50% of GPs today are women, and the dire consequences – for men, women and children – are exactly in line with what Dr Coleman precicted.
